Zisou Family House
Bucharest 2012
Zisou House is located in a very blended area of Bucharest, on a street that was very affected by the massive demolitions of the city by the communist regime in the late 80s. The staggered elements suggest the irregularity and mixture of new and old. The existing structure was demolished previous to the project start because od structural damage.
The volumes are rectilinear and differ both in size and texture. The materials used are set to age very differently thus adding to the feeling of eclecticism.
To address the family's concern for privacy, the house opens up generously towards the garden, ensuring a serene and secluded ambiance. This intentional design choice not only adds an elegant touch to the exterior but also maintains a discreet presence from the street. The contrasting interplay of privacy and openness creates a tectonic image that captivates the viewer, showcasing the harmonious integration of architectural elements with the natural surroundings.
